Digital Rendering with Joan Steacy by maxthemutt

Digital Rendering – afternoons with Joan Steacy:

Joan’s afternoon sessions will  take the pages done in Ken’s “Intro to Graphic Storytelling” morning class and focus on traditionally and digitally rendering in gray-tone and colour for completion of the final artwork.

Colour is often overlooked as an important storytelling device, to evoke emotion or mood. The use of gray-tone will give students a greater understanding of foreground, middle ground and background, which will give their artwork depth and clarity. Students will be shown effective examples of these techniques by contemporary graphic novelists and comic artists. This class can be taken independent to Graphic Storytelling with Ken Steacy.

JOAN THORNBORROW STEACY graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1979 and received a Humanities Diploma at the University of Victoria in 2001.  Much of her work is figurative in content.  Her commissioned works and her commercial work as a digital colourist for children’s books and comics have been published in the United States and Japan.

Mark: We will not be offering Digital Rendering with Joan as an evening course. This is the only time period that Joan is able to give us and we are so very lucky to have her in Toronto this summer. If you would like to discuss the course future, do not hesitate to contact me. Carla
