Max the Mutt Animation School Blog
This is the place to stay on top of what we are doing at Max The Mutt Animation School
Starts October 3.09
This workshop will include both an overview of the Manga medium, including a brief introduction to its various styles, unique visual vocabulary, and distinctive approach to character design. Participants will design their own characters and create Manga pages.

Svetlana Chmakova:
Svetlana Chmakova was born and raised in Russia and moved to Canada with her family when she was 16 years old. She finished a Canadian high school and received a 3-year diploma in Classical Animation from Sheridan College, after which she spent several years as a freelance illustrator/animator.
Svetlana’s comics career suddenly took off with her first full-length manga series “Dramacon”, published by TOKYOPOP/Harper Collins and running 3 volumes. “Dramacon” became a fan favourite as well as critically acclaimed–it was nominated for both of the major comics industry awards (Harvey and Eisner), put on the 2007 YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels For Teens list, and translated into 12 languages. While working on “Dramacon” Svetlana also moonlighted for 2 years drawing and writing a 1-page monthly manga for CosmoGIRL!.
Currently Svetlana is working on her next manga series “Nightschool” which is serialized in Yen Plus, with the first collected volume due out in April 2009. She also recently finished art-directing a 52-episode animated TV series for Teletoon, set to air in Canada and France in fall 2009.
