We Are Still Accepting Applications for ’09 by maxthemutt

For a variety of reasons, this year, despite very high numbers of applications, we have had more accepted students postpone attending than ever before.  Therefore, there are several openings in each program and we  will continue to accept applications.

Whether or not you decide to apply for ’09 this is the time to visit Max the Mutt! You really should try to see the year end shows at all schools you are considering. This is your chance to judge the quality of work the students are producing.

To make room for summer workshops,  parts of this show, which includes work from every program,  will have to come down at the end of June.

All of you who are attending in September, if you haven’t already visited, please try to! I think it will inspire you.

We are open to the public every day from 9 to 5PM, and Saturdays from 10 to 4PM.

If you want a tour, call Lisa Mamers at 416- 703-6877 and book at a time and day that are convenient for you.

The New Galleries On Our Website by maxthemutt

We have been working long, hard days to get the new Animation, Concept Art and Illustration galleries ready! It looks as if we should be able to go live by July 1.  The new galleries will show much more work and in larger format. All ToonBoom (2D computer animation) and 3D work will be ready, but there will be a  delay before we can upload classical exercises. We will also be able to show the virtual tour, and the videos of special events in a larger format.

Please post your comments. we hope you’ll like the changes. We also hope to reformat this blog, but that will have to wait awhile! We need a rest.

We were one of the first, if not the first, schools to offer an in-depth program dedicated to Concept Art.  The general level of work produced at the school by Max the Mutt Concept Art students is very high, and very prolific! If you can’t make it to the school to see the year end show,  when the new web galleries are finally live (sometime in the middle of July)  you’ll get to see the work produced by first and second year CA students.  Please let me know if you agree with me about the quality of work produced during the ’08-’09 academic year.

I was also very happy to see the Illustration for Sequential Arts year two work. These second year Max the Mutt Comics and Graphic Novels students are a very dedicated, hard working group and produced impressive work!

I’ll be writing soon about some of the amazing new instructors joining us this year. They are interested in teaching at Max the Mutt because of the quality of work on exhibit.

It was easy to go to my studio today and concentrate on nothing but my own painting! I am feeling so good about the way things are going.

I haven’t mentioned animation, and I should have. Steve Sayer and Steve Barnes really are a dynamic duo!  you can see them on the grduation/ industry evening video. The 3D work is outstanding, and I’m sure the group film, as well as several of the year 3  Toon Boom films, will be contenders for awards.

Max the Mutt is definitely the school for Concept Art, Illustration for Sequential Arts, and, of course, Animation!

Have a good summer everyone!
