Max the Mutt Wows Educators in Brazil! by admin

Max the Mutt™ Animation School has just returned from the Canadian Film and Television Trade Mission to Brazil where Van Olson, Admissions Director, met with major universities, colleges and trade delegates to discuss cooperation between the burgeoning animation community in Brazil and Canada’s established reputation as a leader in the training of professional animators. Max the Mutt was the only educational institution invited to participate in the trade mission and to join panel discussions at the Brazil-Canada Co-Production Conference on the current trends and opportunities in the animation sector.

Other panelists throughout the day included Silva Mazmajian, Executive Producer for the National Film Board of Canada; Jose Roberto Sadek, Secretary of Culture for the City of Sao Paolo; Joao Sayad, Secretary of Culture, State of Sao Paolo; Louis Fournier, Executive Producer for Gala Kids (of Montreal’s Gala Film); and Sergio de La Cruz from ToonBoom.

Olson met with Ambassador Guillermo Rishchynski, the Canadian Ambassador to Brazil; Andre Sturm, President of Cinema do Brazil; Fernando Dias, President of Bazilian TV Producers, and was invited to present at a number of prominent Brazilian colleges and universities.

Andres Lieban, Creative Director for 2D Lab, and President of the Brasilian Animators/Producers Society invited Olsen to tour the studio premises along with Louis Fournier of Montreal’s Gala Kids. Lieban and Fournier are currently working on a co-production. Lieban is also in discussion with Maxine Schacker Director of
Max the Mutt ™Animation School about setting up an educational model, and possible instructor training based on Max the Mutt’s reputation for producing industry-ready graduates.

Both Fournier and Schacker agree that Brazil’s burgeoning animation industry is ready to move to the next level. “We are more than happy to help Brazil’s animation community by providing both our expertise in animation and our comprehensive educational model,” explains Schacker. “Canada’s National Film Board has a history of collaborating with Brazil on film production, and now Max the Mutt™Animation School will be adding to that tradition”.
